C Series - For carrots.

The Autosort C Series is specifically designed for sorting defects from washed whole carrots. It has been purpose designed so that all major varieties can be sorted, including Nantes, Nairobi and Imperator types. It can remove colour, shape and size defects all in a single operation and is typically fitted between a brush washer and a roller grader. It uses high speed cameras to view the top, bottom, crown and tail of all the carrots and removes defects and contaminants with a short puff of air.

Three sizes of machine are available for all line capacities to 22 T/hr per machine. The carrots are laned on a vibratory feeder and viewed in flight for all-round inspection. The system is easy to set up, has no moving belts etc and is simple to maintain. It also features automatic self-cleaning.

Human inspectors can only see the carrots from one side and they often miss rot defects that are facing away from them on the inspection belt. Installing an Autosort typically gives a 75% inspection labour saving because the defects on all sides are seen by the machine and a simple final check is then all that is required.

Up to six fast-scanning cameras inspect the colour and shape of every carrot from above and below. The cameras can see defects all around the carrots and crown and tip defects are identified separately. Similar colours can be differentiated and the infra-red improves detection of soft rot and foreign bodies.
